Job Objectives (Summary of overall job purpose)

Plan and organize dimensional control activities on assigned projects including preparation of dimension control reports and analyse inspections to support effective achievement of HSE & quality standards as defined by DDWD, local laws and industry best practices.

Day- to-day operations:

  • Perform dimensional inspection allocated by dimensional control engineer or Sr. Dimensional Controller.
  • Prepare of inspection reports in line with requirements and project standards.
  • Analyse of inspection data using AutoCAD 2D/3D or best-fit software, following classification society or/and yard standards and guidance from responsible engineer, including technical suggestions or corrective action as required.
  • Lead, guide, manage, and train personnel assigned to the project and ensure they are working in accordance with relevant work instructions and OH&S requirements.
  • Maintain inspection documentation i.e. procedure, standards, reports etc.
  • Highlight DC inspection issues and report for nonconformity to superiors.
  • Follow-up and inspect fabrication assemblies on-site/on-board vessel for preparation and improvement of dimension control activities.
  • Maintain disciplines in the department by individual as well as by team.
  • Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.

Technical competencies:

  • Knowledge of various standards and fabrication methods including welding process
  • Knowledge of engineering production drawings for new building and conversion ship
  • Knowledge of standards and tolerances for new building and conversion projects.
  • Knowledge of dimensional control software include AutoCAD with 3D handling

Education

  • Degree / Diploma in relevant field
  • Mechanical / Marine

Training

  • Industrial measuring software / AutoCAD with 3D handling
  • Knowledge of Best Fit Software.
  • Experience with integrated dimensional control software.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in similar role.
  • Ship repair/New building, oil & gas industries.
  • Experience as Foreman Pipe/ structural/ mechanical field
