About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced NDT Coordinator – Piping to join our team. This position plays a critical role in supporting our piping fabrication and installation teams by ensuring Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) compliance, traceability, and documentation standards are consistently maintained. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping construction, a solid understanding of inspection processes, and hands-on experience within shipyard or similar heavy industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with document controllers, work preparators, and shop/onboard supervisors to ensure usage of latest drawing revisions.
- Assist supervision in maintaining material traceability records in accordance with departmental procedures and project ITPs.
- Define actual NDT requirements in alignment with ITPs and support resolution of potential disputes.
- Verify material heat numbers, grades, and certification compliance before fit-up and inspections.
- Support foremen in capturing spool/joint details and updating ERP systems (Mariner or equivalent).
- Raise inspection requests and assist during QC/client inspections.
- Support project audits and maintain inspection-related documentation at all stages.
- Verify welder qualifications and ensure proper WPS adherence, welding consumables, and process usage.
- Coordinate with NDT/QC teams for timely report generation and track/report any failures for corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate ERP updates for fabrication/installation progress tracking based on supervisory reports.
- Maintain and update weld maps and spool/joint trackers with verified technical details.
- Clarify discrepancies in drawings and coordinate with relevant teams for resolution.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for supervision and department management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of piping construction experience, ideally in a shipyard or related heavy industrial setting.
- At least 3 years of planning experience involving work scope division and progress tracking through construction phases.
- Strong ability to read and interpret piping drawings, including material grades and process specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding practices and inter-trade coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic understanding of Primavera and AutoCAD preferred.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Mariner or equivalent.
- Familiarity with weld mapping, spools tracking, and material traceability.
Licenses/Certifications
NDT/ASNT Level I or II Certification – Preferred
