About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Welding Supervisor to join our team, with strong credentials such as CSWIP 3.2, AWS SCWI, or API 570. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in welding processes, team leadership, and coordination across fabrication, inspection, and quality functions within complex oil & gas, shipbuilding, or heavy industrial projects.
This role requires hands-on supervision of welding operations while ensuring compliance with international standards and project-specific requirements, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret specifications and perform job pre-planning including:

- Sequencing of tasks
- Qualified manpower availability
- WPS and welding equipment readiness
- Preheating, PWHT setup, and consumable estimation
- Environmental control and purging requirements
- Develop and review project risk analyses, fabrication plans, and build strategies to optimize resource and yard equipment utilization.
- Verify welder and operator qualification certificates, WPS validity, material identity, and working/environmental conditions before work commencement.
- Review fit-up and dimensional control inspection reports to ensure weld readiness and advise teams on corrective actions.
- Oversee in-process welding activities ensuring adherence to WPS including:
- Welding parameters (current, voltage, travel speed)
- Preheat/interpass temperatures, back gouging, weld run sequencing
- Weld bead quality, consumable handling, and distortion control
- Ensure PWHT is performed as per HTPS and verify required NDT pre- and post-PWHT based on ITP and applicable standards.
- Implement and maintain welding traceability (WPS, welder ID, consumables, date welded).
- Ensure full compliance with ITPs, welding traceability requirements, and equipment validation.
- Coordinate progress with project teams, including planning, engineering, QA/QC, and client representatives.
- Monitor work progress, prepare status reports, and support field documentation for invoicing and productivity tracking.
- Mentor and train subordinate staff, conduct performance appraisals, and recommend technical training as needed.
- Maintain and update project files and participate in non-conformance reporting (NCIR system).
Qualifications
Education:
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
Training & Certifications:
- CSWIP 3.2 / AWS SCWI / API 570 (Mandatory – at least one)
Preferred:
- International Welding Specialist (IWS – ISO 14731)
- Welding Engineer Course (IWE)
- CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI
- Welding Instructor Certification
- NDT Level II / RTFI
- Offshore/Oil & Gas Safety Training
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in welding operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role within oil & gas, shipbuilding, or related heavy industries.
- Extensive hands-on experience with WPS, PQR, welding inspection, and project coordination.
